Big news came on Thursday from Old Trafford, with Manchester United appointing Ralf Rangnick to take over as interim manager.
What is it, the Manchester United board actually did something competent? It looks like this as club insider David Ornstein reports that English Premier League giants have appointed Ralf Rangnick to take over as the club’s interim manager.
After last weekend’s 4-1 defeat to Watford, manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was sacked, which came as no surprise. With Solskjer out, fellow club legend Michael Carrick took over as caretaker and helped lead the team to a 2-0 win over Villarreal in the Champions League on Tuesday. Now it will be up to Rangnick to get the ship ready for the rest of the season.
Manchester United fans love the Ralf Rangnick hire by the Red Devils
Rangnick currently serves as Head of Sport and Development at Lokomotiv Moscow. He is ready to leave Russia and go to England once his visa is approved, Ornstein says. Fans can’t wait for him to hit Manchester.
Manchester United have entered the season with a lot of promise, but they are currently looking at the top four in the league table on the outside. With them apparently out of the title race, it was a no-brainer to divorce Solskjaer, especially after the team spent a lot to get Jadon Sancho and Raphael Varane this summer.
For the rest of the season, it will be up to Rangnick to make this team compete at a high level again. Luckily for the new interim manager, Manchester United have already got their ticket to the Champions League round of 16 with one game left in the group stage. Still, there is a lot of season left and there is more than enough time for United to make noise in the EPL as well.
